Soccer is back. And together the soccer discussions are opened. With the teams starting gradually and carefully training, but also their executives, to prepare, both for the continuation of the season and for the following day. And Olympiacos is no exception. On the contrary, it is already in full swing in football. With the agenda of the issues being great. And to refer to the general strategy of the club.
Olympiacos in the last 10 years has invested many millions, a lot of effort and many hours of work in the discovery, development and promotion of footballers from their guts. And for this reason, academies are one of the most important parts of the PAE organization chart. As the objective is always, every year, to have a “Retsos”, a “Tsimikas”, a “Nikolaou”, a “Fortounis”. Difficult and time consuming task, but worth it.
The reds and whites, therefore, have chosen to be constantly ahead of evolution. And for that reason, on the stage they had put together, regarding the preparation of the first team, but also the return to action for the new season, they had included the academy. In fact, with the suggestion of Pedro Martins, it had already been decided which players from the infrastructure departments would follow the preparation of the first team. Not only … also, but because the Portuguese believe they have the quality, talent and perspective to be players in the Piraeus men’s team.
They are Vassilis Sourlis, Christian Belic, Christos Liatsos and Nikos Gotzamanidis. Four footballers of different ages, who have stood out from Martins and the technical staff of Olympiacos. And this summer, depending on how the situation unfolds, it will be on your radar for the first team. Let’s see them …
VASSILIS SOURLIS (11/12/2002)
One of the most important talents in Greek soccer. Martins was delighted with him last summer in preparation. He converted him from 10 ari and one winger to 8ari and believes that in this position he can become an Olympiacos first team player. If the year had been different and the Reds and Whites weren’t so full of midfielders, they would have taken a risk. With the Olympiacos coach believing that Sourlis is a player the club deserves to invest in.
BELITS CRISTIANOS (03/25/2001)
Clean, fast defensive midfielder with a good transfer, a tough and “old-fashioned” footballer. His experience with English football and West Ham was evident throughout the season, as he was one of the most consistent K19 players. Martins has seen him in several training sessions of the first team and considers that he is a player who has elements that can be improved and make it very useful. This year he debuted with the first team, in the Cup match with Kalamata (11 minutes, 01/15/2020).
CHRISTOS LIATSOS (09/01/2003)
Perhaps the greatest talent in the Olympic Academy. It stands out for its incredible technique. Left-handed, he plays with the same comfort and 10 points and winger, and is a player born and raised in the Piraeus academy. He is not yet 17, but he is already a member of K19 and made his debut with the Olympiacos first team, in the Cup match with Kalamata (24 minutes, 01/15/2020). In fact, it became the 3rd.ος The youngest player to play in the first team.
NIKOS GOTZAMANIDIS (01/25/2001)
One of the key executives of the K19 team. Central defender hard, fast, with a good pass, with great attractiveness in goal and a great body. He has been playing for Olympiakos since he was 14 years old and in all age categories he was a key member of the teams, while he is international with all “small” national teams, with more than 20 participations. He has participated in many first team training sessions and Martins wants to see it in more detail.
