The Minister of Education met with the authorities of the rectory and the Panhellenic Federation of Associations of Teaching and Research Personnel (POSDEP), Niki Kerameos, and the Minister of Civil Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, on the subject of the Government’s plan to creation of university police.
The debate, in which the Vice Minister of Education was also present, Vassilis Digalakis, revolved around the role of the university police, the access card Y changes in the Penal and Disciplinary Code to be applied in universities.
Niki Kerameos argued that the government’s concern “was and continues to be the protection of academic freedom, ensuring the free flow of ideas, teaching and research without hindrance.”
“Cooperation is required but also the observance of an attitude of responsibility on the part of all those involved. “The state, rectories, university personnel and students must work together for free, safe, modern, outgoing universities, away from morbid phenomena that have no place in academia.”

- The establishment of a special University Foundation Protection Team (OPPI)
- The establishment of structures and the expansion of security measures at the university, including controlled entry to universities.
- Strengthening of disciplinary and criminal law provisions.
