The reactions of traders in Thessaloniki, Achaia and Kozani are intense over the government’s decision not to open stores on Monday, April 5, in contrast to stores in the rest of Greece.

In Thessaloniki, at a meeting of the trade association, it was decided to send a letter to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, through which the Association will express the strong discontent of traders and request the review of the decision. In fact, it is not ruled out that tomorrow there will be a communication from the president of the Association, Pantelis Filippidis, with the prime minister, as reported by voria.gr.

It should be noted that early in the morning the Mayor of Thessaloniki Konstantinos Zervas appealed to those responsible and decision-makers to review their position on the Thessaloniki market.

Mobilizations in Patras

Traders in Patras decided to open their stores as normal on Monday, hoping that people would buy, as reported by patrastimes.gr.

From the extraordinary meeting of the Board of Directors of the Association, it was decided to proceed with a barrage of mobilizations in the following days, starting on Sunday 4/4 and the visit of Vice Minister Stelios Petsas.

“At midnight on Friday, with a sudden, incomprehensible and unjustified decision, the retail opening for Achaia, Thessaloniki and Kozani, which had just been announced on Wednesday, was canceled.

The business world is experiencing unprecedented mockery and humiliation. We have been closed for more than 3 months by state order and without any type of support. We are desperate and without any other resistance. Throughout this period, we have an outbreak of pandemics that shows that retail is not a source of virus transmission. But it is paying a heavy price with the destruction of thousands of small and medium-sized businesses.

We demand the immediate revocation of the decision and the opening of the stores on April 5, with strict compliance with restrictive measures in their operation.

We ask the deputies of Acaya, the Region, the Municipality and the Chamber to take a clear position so that the transformation of Patras into a dead city is not allowed.

We are requesting immediate financial support and support for the period that we have been closed, compensation for unavailable goods and for the reduction in turnover in 2020.

We requested substantial support from the NSS with the nursing staff, a request from the private sector, and the reopening of the Thoracic Diseases Hospital.

We call on our colleagues and all the institutions of the city to mobilize en masse, observing the distances and all the sanitary measures during the visit of the Vice Minister of the Interior, Mr. Petsas, on Sunday 4/4.

at 10:00 am outside the Chamber

Every Monday morning at 9:00 in our stores without staff with lights and our door open, with all individual protection measures without serving consumers. We publish the poster – the Association’s funeral paper and black flags.

So far we have a voice!

Patras FRAUD does not beg!

No more teasing in small and medium-sized businesses! “

Kozani: Either everyone or no one …

Once again, there is not the slightest respect for the merchants who were preparing to reopen their stores since Wednesday, ”says the Kozani Chamber of Commerce in a statement that clarifies:

“If we have to stay closed we have to stay but EVERYONE. EVERYTHING! It is not possible to continue living the theater of absurdity with closed stores, but with queues in supermarkets, queues in banks, queues in telecommunications stores, queues in popular markets that continue selling non-essential products. “
