The employee who enters into preventive quarantine for 7 or 14 days, as required by EODY, in order to protect himself and his colleagues from possible exposure to the risk of coronavirus, will receive his salary as normal and his contributions will be covered by the employer.

With up to 3 hours of overtime work per day, upon their return to work, they will compensate for the time in quarantine of private sector employees. It provides for a provision in the draft law that is expected to be presented to Parliament tomorrow with which the government will ratify new and old measures to support employees, workers or parents.

The Fall Package

This is the autumn package of measures, which includes measures for more than 500,000 workers and the unemployed, with the aim of reducing the emerging rebound in unemployment. What stands out about this package is the process of resetting the forced quarantine period that an employee can enter. Telecommuting is still the first solution, but the provision applies to employees who cannot work remotely.

In detail, it is expected that the employee who enters preventive quarantine for 7 or 14 days, as required by EODY, in order to protect himself and his colleagues from possible exposure to risk from the coronavirus, will receive his salary normally and your employer contributions. However, at the end of the forced absence from work, the employee must make up the working days and quarantine hours, if the telework solution is not possible. Replacement must take place within 4 months and by the end of 2020, with additional employment up to 3 hours per day, in addition to the employee’s daily schedule. But be careful. This additional work will not be remunerated as overtime or overtime, but the protection provisions of the relevant labor legislation for the limits of working time must be observed. In practice, this means that the employee is not entitled to any surcharge or remuneration for additional work at the time of her absence from work.

Extraordinary measures

According to the Ministry of Labor, the new measure is part of the emergency and temporary measures in the labor market due to coronavirus and mainly affects workers who do not get sick but must be quarantined as part of preventive control measures to limit the propagation. of COVID-19, according to the official EODY instructions and recommendations. The new framework provides first of all for teleworking. Alternatively, and only if it is not possible to request remote work, employees will have to make up the period of absence by preventive quarantine on other business days, depending on the needs of the company.

The employer will have to pay normally for the period of absence of the employee, due to the preventive quarantine, the total of their salaries and insurance contributions.

Parental permission

Another provision will introduce a new special permit for working parents of children who will be infected with the coronavirus. This new license will be co-funded by the employer and the state. A certified medical opinion will be required, which will determine how long it should last. This new special permit will be available to parents of children who will be diagnosed with coronavirus, after the opening of schools. According to the plan and as long as they do not get sick in principle, they will not be able to go to work for prevention, as long as they are entitled to the new special leave.

Allocation of 534 euros to artists, guides

A special financial support is instituted, amounting to 534 euros, for the months of September and October, for artists, creators and professionals of art and culture, as well as for guides and tourist guides. A basic condition is that they do not have an employment contract with another employer and do not receive regular unemployment benefit. According to the plan, immediately after the adoption of the corresponding provision, these employees must submit a unilateral responsible declaration to the electronic platform of the special employee support mechanism (supportemployees.services.gov.gr) to receive compensation. Cross-checks of applications will precede.

In detail, the beneficiaries are:
