Due to Corona, Bavaria is introducing an obligation to quarantine people who travel abroad for a day trip. That was decided by the Bavarian cabinet in Munich, as Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) said. In this way, the state government wants to prevent many people from going skiing in Austria during the Christmas holidays. In Bavaria, all ski lifts and mountain railways are closed during the partial blockade.
One-day tourist excursions or leisure activities abroad, such as skiing, are avoidable sources of risk, according to the State Chancellery. The prior possibility of traveling abroad for up to 24 hours without quarantine in the framework of small border traffic is therefore limited to valid reasons, in particular work, school, doctor visits, family affairs, everyday business, but not for tourism and sports purposes. .
Partial blockade is extended
The cabinet also dealt with the implementation of federal-state resolutions in the Free State. The federal states’ prime minister and Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) agreed on Wednesday to extend the partial lockdown beyond November until at least December 20, so the rules should be made even more stringent. Contact restrictions will be tightened, there will be additional requirements for larger companies, and stricter rules for corona hotspots with a seven-day incidence (new infections per 100,000 residents in seven days) of 200 or more.
Söder said that the partial lockdown so far has been a partial success, the exponential growth has stopped, but of course that is not enough. “Nothing is clear,” stressed the prime minister. That is why this mild block must be broadened and deepened. According to Söder, the partial lockdown can initially only be extended until December 20 for legal reasons, but prime ministers agreed to continue it until the end of the year.
