Government details sent from a private email account: The issue is well known in the US since the 2016 election campaign. Now there are new accusations, this time directed at Melania Trump. A former adviser claims she received confidential information from the First Lady’s White House.
The first lady of the United States, Melania Trump, is said to have sent emails from a private account after her husband Donald’s inauguration in early 2017, revealing White House matters. The Washington Post reported, citing Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Melania’s former adviser. “Melania and I don’t use email from the White House either,” he told the newspaper. Consequently, the two had written to each other multiple times, Melania using her private email address located at the Trump Organization.

According to Winston Wolkoff, Melania Trump also used other private communication channels to exchange ideas with her then confidant. According to its own information, the “Washington Post” could see some messages of the correspondence. Consequently, it involved sensitive information from the White House, including contractual matters, schedules of state visits by the President of the United States and the First Lady to Japan and Israel, and funding details for the swearing-in ceremony in January 2017. .
Melania Trump, as first lady, does not belong to the United States government and, according to the report, is not subject to the strict requirements that apply there. But although the so-called Presidential Records Act allows you to use private email addresses, widespread internal government affairs are sensitive in terms of data protection law and security policy.

Winston Wolkoff’s accusations are reminiscent of the last presidential election campaign in the United States. At the time, Republican candidate Donald Trump had told his Democratic contender Hillary Clinton to use a private email account for official business. In his forthcoming book “Melania and I: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady”, Winston Wolkoff describes the friendship that lasted for around 15 years and the subsequent breakup between the two. Details of the mail traffic with the First Lady are not included in the book, Winston Wolkoff told the Washington Post. Consequently, she “had a lot to write” and therefore focused on personal interactions. Meanwhile, Melania Trump had announced that the book was “a pure campaign of revenge and full of falsehoods.”
