Apparently, the former national goalkeeper is supposed to take a seat on the administration floor of the capital club, and thus succeed Jürgen Klinsmann. And another great name will be added.

Hertha BSC continues to rely on well-known names even after the overwhelming appearance of Jürgen Klinsmann. Former national goalkeeper Jens Lehmann takes over as Klinsmann, who resigned as head coach in February, on the supervisory board of the Berlin Bundesliga soccer team. This was confirmed by a spokesman for investor Lars Windhorst on Sunday from the German press agency. Lehmann, 50, like Klinsmann before, is supposed to deal with sports issues during his tenure, which only lasted a few weeks. Consultant Marc Kosicke is also new to the Supervisory Board, whose clients include coach Jürgen Klopp of Liverpool and Julian Nagelsmann of Bundesliga competitor RB Leipzig.

“I was happy to accept Lars Windhorst’s offer to work on the further development of Hertha BSC,” Lehmann said in a Windhorst Tennor Group press release on Sunday. “I currently see this as one of the most interesting projects in football,” emphasized Lehmann. Klinsmann had spoken almost word for word after his appointment to Hertha’s supervisory body and named Hertha one of the most exciting projects in Europe. Lehmann had recently made headlines with controversial statements about the coronavirus.

Windhorst: “Together they lead the club to a successful future”

Former national coach Klinsmann was relieved of his duties as a member of the supervisory board after his spectacular retirement as Hertha’s coach in February. He had taken over before intervening as head coach of the Berliners in December. After his often-criticized retreat to California, he had fallen out of favor with Windhorst.

“I am very pleased that Jens Lehmann and Marc Kosicke are committed to us at Hertha. They both have a high level of experience and professionalism. They will help achieve the high goals of Tennor and Hertha and the club together to lead a successful future.” Windhorst said.

Kosicke’s appeal could have serious consequences.

Through its subsidiary Tennor, Windhorst acquired a total of 49.9 percent of Hertha BSC GmbH & Co.KGaA in 2019 for € 224 million. You can send two representatives to the Supervisory Board.

Kosick’s engagement is spicy. When Hertha makes a guest appearance in Leipzig in late May, the member of the Supervisory Board will also be an advisor to opposing coach Nagelsmann. “I am very satisfied with the trust that Lars Windhorst and Tennor have placed in me. With my experience in the football business, I am pleased to contribute to the main goals that Hertha and Lars Windhorst have set for themselves,” said Kosicke.
