In Lower Saxony, accommodation for holidaymakers in risk areas will be prohibited from tomorrow. The state government puts a list of affected regions on the Internet.

The goal of the accommodation ban is to restrict travel from risk areas and thus curb the spread of the coronavirus. Claudia Schröder, deputy head of the state government’s crown crisis team, explained this at a press conference today. To circumvent the accommodation ban, people in affected areas can submit a negative corona test, which should not be older than 48 hours. You have to pay for the test yourself. The accommodation ban only applies to all tourist overnight stays in hotels, holiday homes and guesthouses, according to Schröder. Business trips, visits from life partners, spouses or children are not affected. Vacation home owners and long-term campers should also continue to use their property. Day tourists can also come to Lower Saxony.

New list of risk areas every day

According to Schröder, the state government will reassess the situation every day and draw up a corresponding list of risk areas. on their website. If a region exceeds the critical limit of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days, a check is performed to see if it is on the list. According to Schröder, the basis of the decision is local infection. If it’s a manageable outbreak, as was the case in May in a high-rise building in Göttingen, vacationers from the city or district in question in Lower Saxony could still stay overnight. If, on the contrary, the infection spread throughout the city or an entire district, it would not be possible to spend the night in Lower Saxony.

New corona regulation effective today

A new crown regulation has already come into effect today. For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, it also restricts private gatherings. A maximum of 25 people can meet in one’s apartment or house, outside on private property up to 50. The upper limits are also related to the regional infection rate: if the number of infections increases too much, the number can be limited to ten . On the other hand, there is also relaxation for meetings in restaurants.
