1. Notre Dame 2022 offers a pair of quarterback tides

On August 17, Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Reese Furs released its first two quarterback offers in the 2022 class. To do so – if not the very last – was one of the last schools in the Irish Full Football Bowl subdivision.

Owensborough (Q.) High Gavin Wimsst, who ranks nationally as the No. 1 dual-ripper quarterback and the No. 50 overall prospect, was a recipient of the Irish offer. Notre Dame joined Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, TCU, Virginia Tech and West Virginia on its offer fur sheet of more than a dozen schools.

“They’re a great school, usually one of the top in the country,” Wimbset said. “They have a really good quarterback school, and the scholars there are great. They have a ton of tradition. ”

Last fall, Wimsat threw in 2,729 yards with 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, plus ran for 564 yards and 12 scores, while leading his team to a 12-2 record.

Shortly after Wimst announced his announced fur, Steven Angeli of Oredale (NJ) Bergen Cathlik, the country’s No. 12 pro-style quarterback, posted the news of Notre Dame’s fur on social media.

“I took time to dry it with my family and call some people; That’s why I just didn’t post it, ”Angeli said.“ It was just surreal for me and my family. Notre Dame means a lot to our family; It was a really great experience. “

Angeli has offers from LSU, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State and Penn State.

Per Maxpreps, Angeli completed 30 of 49 passes for 372 yards in 2019 with two touchdowns and one interception in a primarily backup role.

2. Another hot tide month

Last August Gust was my recruitment period and was the slowest news month I could remember in my career.

This August Gust was also a dead period, but the times are very different. Last year, Notre Dame almost wrapped up its 2020 class by early July and already had a strong structure of its 2021 class. They were waiting for many big-time visitors to come to campus for the fall.

Notre Dame has not been visited since February 1, and they are unlikely for this fall. Virtual recruitment is a new common thing and Irish staff has had to recruit harder this month.

Also added four new commitments to Irish. In the 2021 class, Jonesborough (Tenn.) David Crockett linebacker Prince Cole Lee, Clarkston (Mt.) guard Rocco Spindler and Los Gatos (California.) Defensive end Will Switzer promised combat Irish, up to 18 verbals.

Notre Dame landed the third commitment of the 2022 class when Grand Rapids (Mitch.) Catholic central linebacker Nolan Ziegler chose Irish over Michigan and others.

3. The ultimate goals of Notre Dame are clear

Notre Dame has only a few places left in the 2021 class, and it’s no longer a big secret who it is (now that Switzerland has committed, which was a secret).

Notre Dame wants to add pieces to the wide receiver and defensive back, plus other possibilities that are too good to refuse. For the Irish West Bloomfield (Mitch.) Donovan Edwards and Littis (Pa.) Will face Nolan Ruchi no matter what.

On the wide receiver, Dion Colzie of Athens (Ga.) Academy, Jaden Thomas of Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy and Dont’a Thornton Jr. of Baltimore (Mo.) Mount St. Joseph are the main names to know.

Eva Beach (Hawaii) Campbell’s Titus Mokiao-Atimalala can also play a huge receiver, but the staff loves how he projects as a defensive back. The other main target left in the secondary is Los Angeles Loyola’s Sear Wright.

Notre Dame is also considering taking a kicker in the 2021 class, and Colorado Chatsworth (California.) Commits Joshua Bryan from the Sierra Canyon who is the eye of the staff. It has been ranked as a “six-star” per Kohl’s business camps.

Of course, it is always possible that Notre Dame extends even more offers, especially in the secondary.

4. The 2022 tide is heating up

Sept. 1 marks the first day where a college college coach is allowed to reach the prospects directly in the 2022 class.

By Tuesday, the college ledge coach would have had to reach out to the recruiting high school coach to schedule a time to talk to the prospect, or both parties would have set up weekly calls where the child calls the coach. But now, college coaches are allowed to make direct contact with recruits – by cutting off intermediaries.

Notre Dame staff will be busy on Tuesday, and the Irish will add to its 2022 commitment list.

5. Michelle Evans is Legit

Wadsworth (Ohio) senior Mitchell Evans is committed as a tight end to Notre Dame, but in his senior season debut on Friday, he took the reins behind the center and burned the scoreboard.

He led Wadsworth to a 54-21 victory and threw 352 yards and three touchdowns on a 15-of-24 passing, adding a rushing score.

Evans is quite an athlete and is committed to catching Notre Dame’s pass, but some pundits have speculated that his body type may be the best suited translation for aggressive action or a defensive end at the next level. But in the meantime, here Evans puts up a large number as a quarterback.
