World Anti-Doping Agency responds to the case of Nairo Quintana on the Tour

Last Monday, cycling woke up with bad news from the French Prosecutor’s Office since an investigation was made for using doping material during the 2020 Tour de France and it was pointed out that Nairo Quintana, cyclist of Arkéa Samsic had to see in this matter.

That same day, the Colombian’s doctor and physiotherapist were captured and Nairo and Dáyer Quintana, his brother, were called for questioning after some inquiries that were carried out in their room during stage 17 of the Tour de France.

Both the doctor and the physiotherapist were released last Wednesday, however, the Marseille Prosecutor’s Office assured that all the testimonies and evidence collected will be analyzed and then make a decision regarding the criminal and economic future of Nairo and his team.

In this framework, it should be noted that those who carried out the investigations and inquiries were by the French authorities and not by the anti-doping agencies of the Tour organization, nor by the country, which is why the question remains as to how much they are aware of this situation in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

This Thursday, the newspaper EL TIEMPO revealed that it raised the query to the AMA to find out what is happening with Nairo’s case and its response was: “In relation to the question about this case, the AMA has no comment to make on this moment”.

Thus, it only remains to wait for everything to be clarified to find out what really happened. Likewise, Quintana has already made his discharges, said that he was at the disposal of justice and that at no time in his career has he used illegal substances.
