In the midst of the disorders that occurred on the night of this Thursday on the second day of demonstrations called as a result of the case of police abuse that ended the life of Javier Ordoñez in the early hours of Wednesday, a woman was killed by a bus that was kidnapped by vandals in Bogotá.

The incident occurred in the town of Suba, specifically on Avenida Cali with Calle 139, around 11 at night.

In the video that circulated on social networks, a SITP bus is seen crossing a street and dozens of citizens and police around a woman who is on the ground.

Until now, EL TIEMPO was able to establish that the vandals stole a SITP bus and ran over a woman of approximately 40 years, whose identity is still unknown. The ambulance arrived at the scene and the health personnel gave him a resuscitation for more than 30 minutes, but he did not respond.

In the ambulance they transferred her to Suba hospital, but she arrived without vital signs. The Prosecutor’s Office assumed the process of removing the body.

Faced with the case, the Minister of Defense, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, asserted that “The death of a woman, run over by a vandal who participated in the theft of a public transport vehicle causes deep pain”.

He also sent a message of solidarity with the families of the affected citizens in recent days.

The head of the defense portfolio pointed out that the days of demonstrations on Wednesday and Thursday have left 194 police officers injured, 10 civilians dead, 7 of them in Bogotá and 3 in Soacha; 209 civilians injured.

Holmes’s balance, at the end of the Unified Command Post (PUM) in the early hours of this Friday, also indicates that 60 police facilities were affected, including 54 CAI and 6 Police stations.

In addition, 91 vehicles were affected (33 TransMilenio buses vandalized, 8 set on fire, 44 of the SITP vandalized, 5 set on fire and 1 private truck affected).

The Ministry of Defense assured that 25 motorcycles and 22 institutional vehicles were affected and that the vandalism affected 5 banks, 3 commercial establishments and 1 traffic light.

“During these two days there have been 90 arrests and 11 apprehensions of minors. 156 people have been taken for their protection. 469 summons have been imposed for violation of the National Coexistence Code,” Holmes said.
