With a scalpel in hand, a man in Santa Marta would have injured his own baby using him as a human shield

A worrying case of domestic and child violence involves a man in Santa Marta, after he was Accused of wounding his two-year-old son with a scalpel at the neck.

It is about Marlon Enrique Lara, who He allegedly made an attempt on the life of his own son after several emotional problems he had with his partner and mother of the minor victim, on the night of Friday, January 1.

According to the version delivered by the Metropolitan Police of Santa Marta, Lara would have used the child as a human shield and while holding a scalpel in one of her hands she threatened to attack the child.

As it was not possible to reach a verbal agreement with the authorities for the man to release the sharps device, the Police of the quadrant in the Alto Delicias neighborhood of Santa Marta chose to reduce the actions of the alleged attacker with an electric shock by using a taser type gun.

Meanwhile, the minor was referred to the Rodrigo de Bastidas health center in the capital of Magdalena and there the doctors who saw him reported that the scalpel did not cause significant harm to the child’s health. For his part, Lara was left at the disposal of the competent authorities to answer for his actions, accused of committing the crimes of aggravated domestic violence and personal injury.

On the other hand, we reproach this type of behavior and invite, if it is the case, to seek professional help to avoid these actions and be alert to any sign that may trigger unfortunate events

Similarly, the Metropolitan Police of Santa Marta made an invitation to citizens to dare to Report any case of domestic violence to the authorities or that involves aggressive behaviors.
