Will there be a curfew in Bogotá for Halloween?

Claudia López was emphatic on Blu Radio when she said that there will be no curfew in Bogotá, during Halloween, because the citizens of the capital have shown that they respect the protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“The citizens of Bogotá understand the reasons for the culture of care and civic culture. Bogotá has never, so far this year, decreed a curfew, in such a way that we are not going to do it on Halloween, “said López.

The doubt arises because some cities, such as Ibagué, have already imposed this measure for this Saturday, October 31, in order to avoid crowds that can spread the coronavirus.

In that sense, the mayor of Bogotá pointed out in the middle that the recommendation is that the children do not go out trick-or-treating, and that the celebration of Halloween takes place indoors.

“Let’s make innovations. How about we hide the sweets in different places around the house ?; but not dating, because it is a great risk for children and parents. We are going to apply the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and I am sure that, as always, Bogotá will comply, ”added the mayor.

The Minister of Health, Fernando Ruiz, has already warned that no costume party can be held for adults or children. Minors will also not be able to go from house to house or to shopping centers for sweets, as is the custom on Halloween, because by doing these tours the little ones could become ‘super contagioners’.

According to the Government, “scientific evidence” showed that meetings and celebrations on special dates “have been the biggest cause of contagion in Europe”, And for the same reason, Ruiz says that Halloween should be celebrated at home and only with members of the family nucleus.

Likewise, the minister gave a free hand for local leaders to impose curfews and other measures, in order to protect citizens from COVID-19, which is still present in the country.
