A study by scientists at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation Trust and the University of East Anglia, UK, Associates COVID-19 Mortality Rates in Europe with Low Vitamin D Levels.
Although these are preliminary results of the study entitled “The role of vitamin D in the prevention of mortality from coronavirus disease 2019”, and which does not yet have the endorsement granted by the review of its peers, it does contribute with a piece of information important to understand the structure of the new coronavirus.

To arrive at this result, the researchers cataloged the average levels of vitamin D from the information existing among citizens of the 20 countries in Europe. Subsequently, they compared them with the relative number of deaths from COVID-19.
As scientists observed, patients with low vitamin D levels had more coronavirus deaths.
Previous studies indicate that having an adequate level of vitamin D in the body helps reduce the risk of respiratory infections like the common flu.
