A naval formation has carried out tests of cannon and missile fire against aerial and coastal targets.
Two tactical groups of warships of the Russian Pacific Fleet formed by the guided missile cruiser Varyag, the destroyer Bystri and two large anti-submarine frigatesThe Admiral Tributs and Admiral Panteleyev have carried out an artillery fire exercise against coastal targets of a simulated enemy, according to a statement from the Defense Ministry.
The targets imitated fortifications and positions of enemy war equipment, the note specifies.
The same naval group previously carried out training in the bay of Avacha consisting of repelling an aerial attack by a conventional enemy. On that occasion, three small anti-submarine ships launched simulated targets toward the exercise area.
Those targets were detected and destroyed by the Osá anti-missile system of the Varyag cruiser, as well as anti-missiles and installations of six AK-630 30-mm automatic cannons from the destroyer Bystri.
