At least 500 motorcycles took to the streets of Bucaramanga and the area last Friday night. Its drivers, many of them in costume, celebrated Halloween.

The caravan was reported by dozens of citizens from different points: San Alonso, San Francisco, Cabecera, Puerta del Sol and Autopista a Bucaramanga, Carrera 27, among others.

Many denounced the road and health disorder caused, as many did not even comply with safety protocols.

“Lack of administrative authority, of Police. Total stupidity, unconsciousness, anarchy. And then so that we lock ourselves up all year, so that a horde (…) diffuses its plague on others? ”It was just one of the messages of nonconformity, disseminated through social networks.

Others denounced how motorists took to platforms “putting pedestrians at risk”, in addition, on roads such as Carrera 27 “they carried out dangerous maneuvers, generating chaos in the streets of Bucaramanga without the corresponding authorities taking measures. They are out of control, passing red lights and taking avenues in the opposite direction ”.

According to the Police, there was intervention on the part of the authorities, there were comparisons and immobilization of several vehicles whose drivers were violating traffic and biosecurity regulations.

Faced with this type of situation, the presence of 1500 uniformed officers was announced to monitor Bucaramanga and the area during this holiday weekend, in coordination with the different Health and Interior Secretariats of the metropolitan area mayors.

Controls will be carried out for people who want to leave the city, as well as foot patrols that will tour parks and shopping centers in order to comply with the provisions of the Decrees issued by the Government of the Department and mayors.

“For people who intend to leave the City for recreation and rest farms, the uniformed men who are serving on the roads through the four most important access corridors to the metropolitan area, will carry control forms in order to find the strategy more suitable for the planning of the service regarding the return of families, in order to avoid collapses in mobility. These checkpoints will be accompanied by officials from the Secretaries of Health and the Interior ”, informed the Police.

A mobilization of forty thousand vehicles is projected this weekend, for this reason, eight prevention, drunkenness control and registration posts were installed.

The ‘Caravans for Life’, which has about 200 uniformed men, will be present in the neighborhoods to control crowds and social indiscipline.

“The call made by the command of the Metropolitan Police, is to respect the provisions aimed at prevention against COVID-19, and invite them to live this special party at home.”
