Video: Bogotans recorded the appearance of a reptile in a moving truck

The snake was not inside the vehicle, but under the body, at the rear, where the spare tire or fuel tank is normally found in this type of car. From there, the animal began to poke its head and then the rest of its body until it touched the rain-soaked road and lay in the middle of the cars.

Despite the fact that for a moment the boa was dragged on the road hanging from the bottom of the car, the driver of the truck managed to step aside and stop. Later, protected by motorcyclists who warned the other drivers to slow down, she remained for a few seconds until the police arrived to rescue her.

According to testimonies collected on social networks, apparently the owner of the car would have visited Melgar, Tolima, two weeks ago Upon his return to Bogotá, he kept the vehicle until Tuesday, October 27, so this reptile could have remained in the lower part of the car for several days.

After the rescue, the boa was delivered to the Institute for Animal Protection and Welfare to carry out the proper rehabilitation processes and thus return it later to its natural habitat.

Julio César Pulido, Undersecretary of the Environment, explained that they will rehabilitate the reptile before its release. “The boa is in perfect health, understandably, under conditions to which it is not used, so its behavior is a bit nervous. It weighs 3.7 kilograms and we carry out the entire rehabilitation process so that it can be returned to its natural habitat “he declared.

In turn, the entity called on citizens to remain calm in case of encountering a wild animal, avoid handling it, not taking it as a pet and reporting it to the authorities.

This was the official reply from the Bogotá Environment Secretariat in which it reported that the Bogotá Animal Protection and Welfare Institute will take care of the species before releasing it:

This is not the first case of boas in the capital. In recent years, reptiles like this have been recovered on Calle 10 with Carrera 34, in the town of Puente Aranda, and also on the bed of a truck where a snake from the municipality of Mesitas del Colegio, Cundinamarca, was found among bundles of mandarin.
