Venezuelan would have killed a cousin with whom he was related

His victim, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, was Leidy del Socorro Peña Pérez, with whom Ortiz Bermúdez would have had a romantic relationship for two years.

This case of femicide occurred at a point diagonal to the field of the Mochila neighborhood, in Sincelejo (Sucre). Peña Pérez lived with his mother and brothers in the Bitar neighborhood, in this city, reported El Meridiano.

The Prosecutor’s Office established that when the couple traveled on a motorcycle driven by the victim, Ortiz Bermúdez “took out a knife with which he cut his neck [a Peña Pérez], and then take her to a nearby vacant lot where he continued to attack her until he took her life ”.

Ortiz Bermúdez, according to what the investigators established, fled the crime scene and went to the victim’s house, “where he stated that some men tried to rob them and murdered the woman”.

Then, the accused criminal went to a hospital to be treated for some injuries that he had on his left hand. “Said injuries would have been caused by the sharp weapon” with which he attacked his cousin, says the Prosecutor’s Office, and specifies that Ortiz Bermúdez was captured in that same health center.

The authorities have the testimonies of people who passed by the scene of the murder and gave notice to the Police, and with the video from a sector camera that recorded the crime.

Peña Pérez, 45, was buried in the Jardines de la Esperanza cemetery, at the exit of Sincelejo towards Corozal, accompanied by family, friends, neighbors and work colleagues, the regional newspaper reported.
