Among the speculations that were heard about what those lights were that crossed the sky of Cali during the day after Halloween, there was talk that it could be stratospheric balloons of the Loon Project, a Google initiative that, since 2013, seeks to bring the Internet to rural and remote populations of the planet through Helium balloons. Although the theory made sense, Google’s project has hardly been tested in some countries such as New Zealand, Brazil, Australia and Puerto Rico.

However, this Monday the explanation was known, according to the newspaper El País, that the lights were actually “flying lanterns” launched by a fan of América de Cali. According to messages posted on social media, It was an event of the Averno Central bar, from America, which was turning 22 years old and decided to pay tribute to the deceased fans.
