UCI in Bogotá: What is the available capacity? Mayor’s Office responds – Bogotá

On the night of this Thursday, the Bogotá Ombudsman released a report indicating that the capacity of ICU beds in the capital had reached its maximum level.

However, Mayor Claudia López and Alejandro Gómez, Secretary of Health, refuted the alarming call, alluding to a wrong interpretation of the data by the personero.

It all started with the dissemination of Rojas’ report, according to which Bogotá had reached 100% occupancy in ICU beds.

Claudia López reacted and, through her Twitter account, assured that the net occupancy, that of the supposed one hundred percent, is actually 93%.

“They confuse CRUE procedures with a net% of occupancy. In one day the CRUE processes hundreds of requests that include income, expenses, cancellations, transfers, deaths and closes with the net of the day, which today is 93%,” said the mayor.

Along the same lines as López was Alejandro Gómez, Secretary of Health, who, in principle, responded to the complaint about the ICU beds replicated by a Bogota councilor: “You attended with me, Mr. Councilor (Emel Rojas), to a meeting with the Mr. personero this afternoon, in which said absolutely nothing about this report that deviates from the truth“, wrote.

After that, Gómez published a video assuring that in the statement of the Personería “statements are made that deviate from the truth.”

“After a meeting, the personero was in my office and at no time did he mention anything in the statement that generates concern among citizens,” he said.

Gómez said that the information from the Ministry of Health is shared through Saludata, emphasizing that “Today Thursday there are beds available for the care of covid patients in the city“.
