The Sectional Secretariat of Health of Antioquia reported 2,156 new cases of Covid-19 in the department for today, Saturday, January 2, and the number of infected rises to 265,864.
Today’s report records 2,156 new cases in the department. Of them in Medellín there are (1,089), Itagüí (149), Rionegro (136), Bello (135), Envigado (133), La Ceja (61), Caldas (56), Sabaneta (53), Apartadó (38), Copacabana (29), Carmen de Viboral (28), La Estrella (27), Marinilla (27), Girardota (22), Guarne (17), El Retiro (12), Santa Rosa de Osos (9), El Santuario ( 9), Santa fe de Antioquia (9), La Unión (9), San Pedro de los Milagros (8), Barbosa (7), Ciudad Bolívar (6), Donmatías (6), Puerto Triunfo (6), Segovia ( 4), San Vicente (4), Carepa (4), Támesis (4), Andes (4), La Pintada (3), Amagá (3), Turbo (3), Puerto Berrío (3), El Peñol (3 ), Abejorral (2), Ituango (2), El Bagre (2), Cisneros (2), Santa Bárbara (2), Nariño (2), Sonsón (2), Cocorná (2), Urrao (2), Salgar (2), Caucasia (1), Concepción (1), Necoclí (1), Alejandría (1), Dabeiba (1), Mutatá (1), Caracolí (1), Fredonia (1), Yarumal (1), Arboletes (1), Buriticá (1), San Jerónimo (1), Frontino (1), San Luis (1), Tarso (1), Amalfi (1), Remedios (1), San Pedro de Urabá (1), San Andrés de C uerquia (1) and Peque (1).
all previously identified, placed in isolation and under the corresponding epidemiological surveillance. With these new cases, the number of infected people in Antioquia rises to 265,864. Of them 136,536 are women and 129,328 are men.

The report indicates that, to date, there are 5,755 active cases in the department and the number of people recovered is 254,693.

Likewise, it indicates that there are (767) hospitalized patients: (485) in the Intensive Care Unit, ICU, and (282) in general hospitalization.
Regarding patients from other departments, there are (5) hospitalized people. From Chocó (4) they are in general hospitalization and from Quindío (1) in ICU.
Regarding the ICU beds in the department, among which are those destined for the care of patients with COVID19 and patients with other pathologies, Antioquia has a total of 1,250 beds. Of these there are, to date, 1,035 occupied as follows: 399 with COVID patients, 135 suspected of COVID and 501 not COVID. Thus, the occupancy of ICU beds in the department today is 82.80%.
