This is how the curfew “of the mothers” started in the Aburrá Valley

It started this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. the first part of the metropolitan curfew to avoid increasing the risk of contagion of the coronavirus during Mother’s Day.

The restriction will run until tomorrow, Sunday, May 10 at 5:00 a.m. It will start again on Sunday from 7:00 p.m. until Monday, May 11 at 3:00 a.m. Likewise, the dry law began this Saturday, May 9 at 5:00 p.m. and will go until Monday, May 11 at 5:00 a.m.

For this Saturday, the report of the Ministry of Health indicated that two new cases of covid-19 were registered. With this new report, the number of positive cases in the department amounts to 466. Of these, 233 are women and 233 are men.

The report indicates that, to date, there are 86 active cases in the department and 374 people recovered. Of the assets, 58 are reported in Medellín and the remaining 28 are distributed in the following municipalities: Bello (13), Copacabana (7), La Estrella (3), Rionegro (1), Itagüí (2) Envigado (1) and El Carmen de Viboral (1).

Police control

A device of more than 5,000 men and women of the Police will ensure that the curfew imposed in the Aburrá Valley and other Antioquia municipalities is fulfilled during this Mother’s Day weekend, in addition to other determinations imposed to limit the presence of the people on the streets.

The authorities deployed their force on the roads of the department with 22 health checkpoints to verify that those who transit have the respective authorization.

“This is a fundamental weekend. We are on the route of shielding our department so that contagions from outside do not arrive, but also so that the disease does not spread to other subregions from the Aburrá Valley, “said Luis Fernando Suárez, Antioquia government secretary.

The Mayor’s Office of Medellín reported that it installed a special Unified Command Post in coordination with the different institutions and organizations to coordinate control and surveillance actions during the curfew.

The measure will apply in the 10 municipalities of the Aburrá Valley, which by tradition celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday of May.
