They sanction mothers of girls who consumed liquor in Cartagena

After a video appeared on social networks in which some 6-year-old girls consuming liquor in a neighborhood of Cartagena, Officials from the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare, ICBF, and the Childhood and Adolescence Police took on the task of locating the mothers of the minors.

The search efforts yielded results with the location and entities of the girls’ mothers who allowed their daughters to drink intoxicating beverages.

“By qualifying as illegal the conduct of those who facilitated drinks to minors, according to the facts recorded in a video, the General Director of the ICBF, Lina Arbeláez, reminded the community that the person who delivers intoxicating drinks or their acquisition minors will be sanctioned in accordance with the norms established for dispensers in the National or Departmental Police Codes, ”the ICBF said in a statement.

“It is inadmissible that parents and caregivers encourage the consumption of intoxicating beverages among their children, putting at risk not only their health, but their integrity and life, said Lina Arbeláez, Director of the ICBF.

In turn, the Metropolitan Police of Cartagena reported that the mothers and their two daughters were taken to the ICBF Family Police Station for the restoration of their rights.

The institution announced that the mothers of the minors received subpoenas, according to the numeral 5 of article 38 of the National Code of Security and Citizen Coexistence which indicates: entertainment activities are carried out aimed at the consumption of alcoholic beverages and the consumption of cigarettes, tobacco and their derivatives and psychoactive substances.
