This weekend, Bogotans have the possibility of visiting the municipalities of Cundinamarca, with no more restrictions than those that some localities with high levels of contagion with covid-19 may still have. However, the department authorities will be on alert and monitoring the flow of automobiles and bicycles on the roads and at the entrance to the towns.
The government warned that if the volume of vehicles and bicycle users is high, it would have to adopt measures such as the ‘peak plate’, to restrict movement through the territory, so that the virus does not spread.
“From today (Thursday) we will begin strict controls, counting vehicles and bi-users, and compliance with the protocols in restaurants, and if we see non-compliance and the health of Cundinamarca at risk, we will start with restrictive measures”Assured Nicolás García, governor of Cundinamarca.
The surveillance will be in seven road corridors: South highway, North highway, 80th street, 13th street, Villavicencio exit, La Calera road and Seventh race. This supervision will be in charge of 103 people, between police and officials.

In addition to the possibility that the ‘peak and plate’ be established in the department, it would also be considering reducing the capacity of commercial establishments that can already open.
According to the Government of Cundinamarca, Bogota citizens will be able to move freely through the roads of the department, enter each of the 116 municipalities and carry out the activities that are permitted by the municipalities.
So far, Cundinamarca has an occupation of 53 percent of the beds in intensive care units and this allows it to authorize the reactivation of some sectors of the economy.

However, according to Diego García, manager for Covid-19, the behavior of the virus in municipalities is being constantly monitored by a commission of epidemiologists, in order to keep the level of contagion under control and that the demand for ICUs does not exceed the capacity. At this moment the department has 168 beds.
Finally, Governor Nicolás García stated that hopes that this weekend will pass in tranquility and that it is the duty of each citizen to adopt all biosecurity measures, such as the use of masks, hand washing and distancing, so that the region does not have to return the restrictions of a quarantine.
