During President Iván Duque’s visit to Barranquilla, Mayor Jaime Pumarejo requested co-financing with resources from the national government for large city projects that are strategically aligned with the development plans of the Nation and the District.

The president of the Barranquilla considered that the purpose of this request is to agree with the national government a roadmap oriented towards job creation, which ratifies the joint commitment to return to the path of progress, and show through the example that yes a rapid recovery of the economy is possible in a responsible and safe way, protecting the lives of citizens.

Pumarejo stated that “there is no more effective way to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of our people than to generate all the conditions so that their worthy sources of personal and family income are reestablished” and that “in extreme circumstances such as those that we live, we cannot leave that responsibility exclusively to the economy or the market, and therefore it is up to us, those of us who have the representation of the State, to promote the recovery of employment through public investment ”.

Biodivercity axis

Comprehensive recovery of the Ciénaga de Mallorquín, in response to climate change and the need to create a space for encountering nature, recreation and tourism, which generates income opportunities for the population settled in its area of ​​influence. The estimated investment is $ 281,059 million.

Comprehensive Recovery of Canals to mitigate flood risks in neighboring neighborhoods, improve their environmental management and hydraulic and navigation capacity, and take advantage of them as a buffer system, urban recovery, transportation and tourist attraction. The estimated investment is $ 230,000 million.

Barranquilla Aqueduct and Sanitation Projects, which involves the construction of the Norte aqueduct and the sanitation of the Northeast and Northwest basins of Barranquilla, which are decisive for the urban expansion of the city and to improve the living conditions of Barranquilla residents. The estimated investment is $ 516,000 million.

Connectivity and Quality of Life Axis

Barranquilla’s Port Maritime Zone, an industrial and logistics platform to connect the markets of the interior of the country and the Caribbean region with the world. Includes base works for the first stage of the project: breakwater, access channel, maneuvering basin, adjustments for future concessions and land access road. The estimated investment is 1,200 million dollars.

Transmetro, to bring the contributions of the Nation to 70%, in accordance with the respective CONPES. Today the proportion of contributions is 60% of the Nation and 40% of the District. With the resources derived from the missing 10% of the national government, the adaptation of roads, the renewal of the fleet with electric buses, and the expansion of the Joe Arroyo station will be financed to meet user demand and concentrate the SITM operations center .

Integrated Public Transportation System, through a new Conpes that guarantees the contribution of the Nation for the development of the SITP of Barranquilla and its metropolitan area, which includes fleet, patios, technology, satellite exchange terminals and bus stops. The estimated investment in the Transmetro and SITP projects is $ 2.2 billion.

Barrios a la Obra, to bring the coverage of paved streets in the city to 100% in order to improve the population’s habitat and generate decent living conditions for the inhabitants of the sectors included in the final phase of this successful program. The estimated investment is $ 120,000 million.

Electrical standardization, which includes the legalization of users and the adaptation of electrical networks in accordance with current technical regulations. It is projected to impact around 80,000 people in 34 vulnerable neighborhoods. The estimated investment is $ 70,000 million.
