The reopening of another 12,210 companies in Medellín and Aburrá will bring more than 200,400 workers back to the streets, according to estimates by the Medellín Secretariat of Economic Development. This poses a challenge for the region in terms of containing the coronavirus.

And it is that with this new group of employees who return to productive life, there would already be a million people circulating in the Aburrá Valley, although only with permission to do it from home to work and vice versa.

Paola Vargas González, Secretary of Economic Development, noted that “The purpose is to guarantee that all these companies can operate without neglecting the health and well-being of the city” and that is why only those companies that guarantee that they take the necessary sanitary measures to avoid coronavirus outbreaks will be able to resume work.

Vargas said that the unions have already made invitations to implement staggered working hours, since the mass transportation system cannot exceed 35% occupancy.

“Companies belonging to the new sectors excepted in Decree 636 of the National Government must attach the biosafety protocol to restart their operation in accordance with Decree 666 of 2020 of the Ministry of Health,” said the official.

Until this weekend, according to figures released by the Mayor’s Office, 52,852 companies in Aburrá had approved their biosafety protocols and another 11,060 were rejected. The latter, he clarified, can make adjustments and present the document again for evaluation.

Bearing in mind that among the businesses authorized to reopen are automotive diagnostic centers, auto mechanic workshops, vehicle manufacturers and marketers, the city’s Ministry of Mobility also announced that it will reopen attention to citizens in the Caribbean offices. and Sao Paulo for procedures such as transfers, lifting of pledge, tradition certificates, etc.

The attention will be made according to the peak and identity card (see graph) and with appointments scheduled at www.medellin.gov.co/movilidadenlinea.
