The mayors of Bucaramanga, Floridablanca, Piedecuesta and Girón managed to unify the restrictive measures that will be in force until January 22, in order to reduce the speed of contagion of COVID-19.

Taking into account that the occupation of beds in the Intensive Care Unit, ICU, is 82% in Santander and 87% in the metropolitan area, the authorities implemented measures to avoid contacts and infections.

As it is, the curfew and prohibition continues from 8:00 at night to 5:00 in the morning, from this January 15 until the 22 of the same month. This measure will govern the 87 municipalities of Santander.

The municipalities of San Gil, Barrancabermeja and Socorro also joined these measures.

It is expected that within eight days, the PMU will meet again to balance the measures that will govern until the end of January.

“With these measures what is sought is not to have to be more severe in two weeks. We expect a slight decrease in infections, but we need moderate restrictions to avoid total restrictions. The important thing is also that the Prass strategy continues to work throughout the area, ”said Nelson Ballesteros, Bucaramanga’s Secretary of Health.

The measures also include the intensification of the Prass strategy in the metropolitan area and highly affected municipalities.

The governor of Santander, Mauricio Aguilar, also assured that the hospital red alert will continue to prevent intensive, intermediate and hospital care ICUs from dealing with patients with other pathologies unrelated to COVID-19.

Therefore, the restriction to non-urgent complementary surgical procedures and cosmetic surgeries continues.

On this Friday, January 15, 214 people are in the ICU for Coronavirus while another 282 are for different pathologies.

Santander has 18.42% ICU availability.

The department has 6,110 active cases, of which 5,441 positives are recovered at home, 513 are hospitalized and 156 patients are in the ICU.
