This Saturday, Luis Fernando Suárez, governor in charge of Antioquia, announced new restrictive measures due to the high ICU occupancy and the increase in Covid-19 cases in the department.

Suárez ordered to extend the curfew and the dry law in the Aburrá Valley and the San Nicolás Valley (El Carmen de Viboral, El Santuario, Marinilla, El Retiro, Guarne, La Ceja, San Vicente Ferrer, La Unión and Rionegro) .

For these places the curfew will come into force from April 5 to 9 between 6:00 pm and 5:00 am, while, in the rest of Antioquia, they will be applied between 8:00 pm and 5:00 am

“The moment Antioquia is experiencing today is really critical and demands the greatest commitment of all to self-care,” said the governor (e) on his Twitter account.

As for the dry law, Suárez clarified that the sale of liquors will be allowed through addresses.

Another announced measure is that the bill and ID for commercial establishments, except for hotels and restaurants. Remember that on even days it applies for cards that end in even and on odd days for those that end in odd.

The president also reported that no face-to-face classes will be held in the next two weeks in the Aburrá Valley and the San Nicolás Valley. In the other municipalities the alternation model is maintained.

These measures will be evaluated in a meeting next Wednesday, April 7, with the presence of spokespersons from the 125 municipalities and businessmen. According to the current situation, new restrictions will be determined for the following days. In the event that the ICU occupancy does not drop, measures such as quarantines on weekends would be considered.
