The members of the minga got up from the dialogue table because President Iván Duque did not travel to meet with them.

Regarding this, the Interior Minister said that the National Government has fulfilled the agreements that were had and that they are willing to find a solution with the delegates.

“We regret that the councilors of the Indigenous Regional Council of Cauca, Cric, did not come, but after speaking with their delegates we were able to show the progress of the National Government in the agreements reached,” he said.

And he added, “We want Colombians to know that this is not a protest minga, but a political minga, because the Government has made great efforts to comply with what has been agreed. However, we are interested in establishing work routes to reach an agreement. “

In addition, in a statement, the delegation of the National Government indicated that they are concerned for those by the crowds and the importance of compliance with biosafety protocols.

“The pandemic continues to be a reality in the country. Today, with the presence of the Minister of Health, they were explained the risks involved in being in agglomerations and moving from one city to another,” the text said.

Finally, they indicated that the Government is willing to continue the dialogue with the Cric representatives.

Unofficially, it was known that it was proposed to meet the parties at the headquarters of the Ombudsman’s Office in Bogotá so that President Iván Duque could participate, but the indigenous leaders refused.

Camilo Murcia, Secretary of Coexistence and Citizen Security of the Valley, stated that “it is important to remind the indigenous population that this constitutional development is carried out in peace, without violent acts, zero vandalism and, especially, with strict compliance with the protocols of biosecurity, during the stay in the city ”.

“The Government of Valle del Cauca at the head of Clara Luz Roldán guarantees not only the march and remained peaceful, but also intends that they be carried out in the established terms and in this way the Government has joined supporting logistically what concerns the arrival and permanence of the indigenous people in the department ”, added the official.

The indigenous minga for respect for life will remain in Cali until next Wednesday, October 14, during which time various activities will take place in various parts of the city.

For his part, Jorge Iván Ospina, president of the Caleños, traveled to the minga camp to coordinate the logistical details for the activities scheduled for the next two days.

After a couple of hours, the pact was signed for a ‘Minga Biosegura’. The idea is that indigenous communities receive support from the public health network and biosafety protocols are respected.

It should be remembered that the indigenous minga, in which some seven thousand members of the Cauca and Valle reservations participate, entered Cali from 1:30 pm on Monday.
