The Navy rescued 14 people stranded in the Ciénaga Grande

After spending between four and five hours in a boat, in the middle of the Ciénaga Gran de Santa Marta, a group of 14 tourists, among whom were the model Laura Tobón, her husband, Álvaro Rodríguez, and other relatives, were found by the Coast Guard of the National Navy.

According to the Santa Marta Coast Guard Station, on Saturday night they received a call informing them about a boat adrift in the general area of ​​the lagoon complex.

Units were immediately dispatched to carry out a ground inspection in the municipality of Puebloviejo, where the shipment of the Coast Guard in a civilian vessel was coordinated with the support of the community.

And so it was that in the middle of the dark night of the lagoon, after a meticulous search, the boat identified with the name of ‘Sea Groove II’ was spotted, which was stranded after presenting technical failures in its engines and lack of fuel. with 14 passengers on board.

“The boat ‘Sea Groove II’ was spotted about 9 nautical miles from the town of Puebloviejo, so its occupants were rescued and transferred as soon as possible to the tourist pier in this municipality, without presenting any health problems”, commented a spokesman for the Navy.

Meanwhile, the model Laura Tobón thanked the help provided, both by the Coast Guard and the Puebloviejo community, adding that “they were moments of great fear because we did not know where we were, but it was very far from the dock.”

He indicated that he was with his family for many hours in the midst of uncertainty and that he also thanked the communities and fishermen who are nearby.

Although they did not give many details of the journey they were on, it was known that the model and her relatives were out for a walk in the Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta when they suffered a damage, apparently after exhausting the gasoline reserves of the mentioned boat.

Likewise, the authorities revealed that the 14 castaways were valued, but their health conditions were normal, despite the time they spent lost in the huge water mirror in the Magdalena department.

For their part, spokesmen for the Navy joined those rescued in thanking the community of the Puebloviejo municipality, because thanks to them the boat was found stranded adrift.
