Through Decree 0344, the governor of Huila Luis Enrique Dussán López established a series of measures for this Christmas and New Year season after holding security meetings and presiding over a Departmental Council for Disaster Risk Management.

The objectives of these restrictions and recommendations emanating from the Departmental Government are to stop the spread of COVID-19, prevent new cases of gunpowder burns, reduce accidents and acts of violence related to the excessive consumption of intoxicating beverages during the holidays.

In this sense, it was decreed, first, to adopt all the measures ordered by the Presidency of the Republic related to selective isolation, such as the prohibition of agglomerations.

In addition, a curfew was established in all the municipalities of the department, prohibiting the movement and circulation of people and vehicles between 10 at night and until 5 in the morning of the next day, from today December 24 until 11 from January.

The sale and consumption of intoxicating beverages was also prohibited in public spaces and commercial establishments at the same hours and time established for the curfew; meetings with a capacity higher than those authorized by the protocols established by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, both in public and private places and the holding of events in all municipalities (municipal capitals, populated centers and sidewalks), from Huila to new notice, involving the meeting or influx of more than 50 people.

The recreational and sporting activities of a group were also restricted, that is, those carried out with teams of two or more people, such as basketball, soccer and volleyball. In the cases of gunpowder burnings in Huila, the authorities urge the municipal mayors to apply restrictive police measures on the use, marketing and sale of pyrotechnic or explosive items, in compliance with their legal duty, in order to guarantee the life, physical integrity of children and adults.

The measures that the municipal administration has taken framed in Decree 1109 of 2020, of December 11 of this year, will remain in force, despite the considerations adopted by the Government of Huila in the department during the celebration of the December festivities.

This was announced by the Secretary of Government Faiver Hoyos Hernández, who confirmed that after conducting a dialogue with the departmental government, it was established that the measures that had already been decreed in advance will continue in force in the municipality.

“Indeed, the Government of Huila issued Decree 344 that regulates various actions to control COVID at this time of the end of the year, it must be clarified that the local administration already comes with a decree which is 1109 issued by the mayor of Neiva Gorky Muñoz Calderón, and who is the one who is making the Metropolitan Police respect. We held a dialogue with the Secretary of the Government Franky Vega, and we agreed that we continue with the respective Decree that runs until January 16, 2021, ”stated the Secretary of the Government Faiver Hoyos Hernández.
