In this regard, Johana Bueno, director of the District Administrative Department of Health (Dadis), confirmed to The universal that the first person to receive the biological in the city will be Juan Manuel Montes Farah, assistant manager of Critical Care at the Hospital Universitario del Caribe (HUC).
This taking into account that the 1,260 vaccines destined for the city in this first moment will be applied to 1,074 HUC workers, while the rest of the doses will be applied to healthcare and support personnel of the Health Management IPS in San Fernando. “We are prepared”
The director of Dadis stated that the District Administration has strengthened all inter-institutional work with the EPS and IPS to guarantee the success of this first stage.
“We are prepared in the city of Cartagena for this first moment that is part of the first phase and first stage of immunization, where the prioritization is the personnel in charge of care, in the first line of defense against COVID- 19 ”, stated Johana Bueno.
The official said that the 1,260 prioritized people will be immunized in a week. It should be noted that the vaccine developed by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer requires two applications.
The city has 220 vaccinators trained for the application of the city’s biological, which were prepared after an agreement that the Ministry of Health made with the National Learning Service (SENA).
Juan Manuel Montes, 69, is one of the officials who has been working at the HUC for the longest time and during the pandemic he has promoted the expansion of services in the healthcare center.
He is a doctor graduated from the University of Cartagena, with specialties in Critical Medicine and Intensive Care, Pneumology, Quality Management and Health Services Audit, Health Management, University Teaching, Educational Management and Educational Evaluation. He also completed a Master’s degree in Public Health at the National University.
He is a professor at the University of Cartagena and for several years has been in charge of the Critical Care area of the ESE Hospital Universitario del Caribe. He also has experience in emergency medical coordination and critical care care.
