The first weekend of the year that has just begun concluded and with it, in a discouraging way, the coronavirus figures issued yesterday Sunday exceeded the threshold of 25 thousand infected and reached a total of 25 thousand 028 infected. This was confirmed by the most recent report issued by the National Institute of Health, INS, and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection on new cases of coronavirus.
Although the contagion curve has been constantly increasing, this latest report revealed that those infected in the last hours in the department of Magdalena were a total of 85 people.
Likewise, the morning report reaffirmed that Santa Marta continues to be systematically the epicenter of infections, since, on this occasion, 77 percent of infections were reported in the city, that is, a total of 66; while, the municipalities of the Magdalena department reported 19 infected.
With this balance, the city of Santa Marta registers a total of 17,388 infected accumulated since the pandemic began, of which 93 percent have already recovered, that is, 16,110 people managed to defeat the fearsome virus; while only 3.8 percent of the cases remain active.
With respect to the municipalities of the department and with the exception of Santa Marta, the infected amount to 7,675, of which only a little more than 200 of the cases are active, that is, 6,902 from Magdalene are fully recovered.
Regarding the active search for asymptomatic and symptomatic patients, there are already 36,128 tests carried out in the city of Santa Marta, of which 35,457 samples have been reported by the National Institute of Health.
Which means that the city is waiting for the National Institute of Health, INS, to deliver 671 tests of Covid-19 that it has dammed according to what was explained in the last balance of the Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta.
MORTALITY CONTINUES
Likewise, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced that there were six deaths due to Covid-19 recently in the department of Magdalena. Four of the dead were registered in Santa Marta, while the other two were notified in Ciénaga and Fundación, respectively.
Regarding the deceased in Santa Marta, it was known that three men of 47, 63 and 83 years of age lost their lives after being infected, likewise, a 49-year-old woman with high blood pressure and obesity became another fatal victim of the virus originating in Wuhan , China.
In Ciénaga, a 49-year-old adult with cardiovascular disease died; while, in Fundación, the victim was a 95-year-old man with high blood pressure and diabetes.
With this new balance, the department remains at 1,085 fatalities left by the coronavirus after completing more than nine months after the start of the pandemic in this area of the country.
This is how at present the deceased in Santa Marta register an accumulated 563 fatalities; while, the municipalities of the department add a total of 522.
