The president said that before landing in San Andrés they flew over Providencia, in which they were able to see the damage left by the hurricane: homes destroyed, as well as commerce and the rest of the infrastructure.

Later, he landed in San Andrés, where he toured the island’s coastal area, spoke with the community, and met with his government team.
In this first meeting, the Presidency indicated that the President gave precise instructions for some of the officials to accompany him on a Providencia flight and others to stay ahead of the meeting of the Unified Command Post (PMU), at the National Navy Base, whose The purpose is to evaluate the effects caused by the hurricane on this island.Immediately afterwards, President Duque left, aboard a Casa plane, in which humanitarian aid was mobilized, for the islands of Providencia and Santa Catalina.
Stronger than its predecessor, Iota made landfall as a Category 5 hurricane, the strongest, with maximum winds of 260 km / h hour, according to a report from the United States National Hurricane Center (NHC), but then began to lose strength.
It should be remembered that the Colombian Air Force transported more than 36 tons of aid for the population of San Andrés in the last hours on the ‘Jupiter’ plane, within the framework of the “Helping does us good” campaign.
