Rigo Urán defends Nairo Quintana from doping suspicions

Rigoberto Urán referred to the preliminary investigation that the Marseille prosecutor’s office He opened against Nairo Quintana and his surroundings on suspicion of doping. “I came to know everything yesterday. As a friend, as a Colombian, I hope there is an answer and no more will happen. Nairo is a great runner and, as one, at the end of his career I don’t think he will start doing anything. In addition, today the teams are very controlled. I don’t think this is going to get bigger, I hope everything will be solved quickly ”, declared the popular ‘Rigo’ in an interview he gave to Caracol Radio.

This Monday it was known from France that health authorities had raided the room of the Quintana brothers, Nairo and Dayer last Wednesday, as well as that of their compatriot Winner Anacona, all runners of the French team Arkea.

Subsequently, the opening of the preliminary investigation for suspicions of doping was made official because, according to the prosecutor in the case told local media, the authorities found “Many health products, including medicines in your personal belongings, but also and above all a method that could be classified as doping.”

Later it was learned that both Nairo and his brother were interrogated and that two people from the Colombian’s environment were detained as part of the investigation.

The oldest of the Quintanas suffered a strong fall on stage 13 of the Tour de France that left him serious injuries to the whole body, a situation that made him unable to compete in the first places of the race and was relegated to 17th place in the general classification, more than an hour from the winner.
