Minutes after being recognized as the winner of The Best FIFA Player Award 2020, Robert Lewandowski wrote on his Instagram account an emotional message in which, in addition to thanking his closest circle for all the support they provide him , mentioned three figures who inspired him to reach the top in the world of soccer.

“Thank you very much for this award, it is an incredible honor to receive it tonight.
When I was a young boy, I was always inspired by Thierry Henry. He admired his style of play, his technical brilliance, his great goals and the success he achieved both at the club level and with his country. I dreamed of reaching that level.
And as a professional footballer, I have been fortunate to witness first-hand the achievements of the two greatest footballers of the last decade: Christian and Leo Messi. Your success and consistency standard of excellence has motivated me to reach that level. It is an honor for me to be in such an honorable group.
It is an incredible reward for all the years of work and a reminder to never stop dreaming.
