She is María Celene and works as a general services assistant at the Las Vegas Clinic in Medellín, where the medical staff gave her a well-deserved recognition.
The applause is also for the heroine of the heroes, with her glasses, special costume, face mask and gloves every day she is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting the intensive care units of the clinic where several patients with coronavirus have arrived.
After her 12-hour day on the front line with the doctors, three children await her, who fear for the health of their mother, but have deep admiration for her.
“My children are very scared, just as I take my precautions, I get to bathe everything. My little boy says that he doesn’t get close to me because I come dirty from the street, ”says María Celene Serna.
His work is often incognito, but here is the face that represents the general cleaning staff, so the medical staff thanks him for risking his life with them.
“For us they are very important here in the clinic, because thanks to them we keep our place free of viruses and bacteria, thanks to them we can get there and find our job organized”, says Margarita González, nurse.
For more than seven years, María Celene has been dedicated to this work, every day she prevents doctors from being infected by the virus and only asks the citizens for a Mother’s Day gift: to end discrimination.
“Please, we did not cause any harm, we took care of ourselves before, we tried to take care of them, I do not know why they are like this and they attack us or attack the auxiliaries, knowing where else are they going to go? to a hospital where we are, “says the woman.
Along with her, there are more than 60 people of general cleanliness in the clinic who day by day fight so that the doctors can continue fighting.
