The coronavirus pandemic has caused many social dynamics to change. Now, many jobs are done from home, interpersonal relationships are maintained, more than ever, thanks to social networks, and routines are reduced to what can be done locked up.

It also changed the way it is taught and learned. Classes, both from colleges and universities, had to migrate to digital platforms and the salons, during these times, became a link on the web that is shared and that many people join.
What has not changed are the attitudes of many and the jokes that can turn into offenses, and that often are not measured.
A reflection of that was what happened in Medellín, when a student played a practical joke on a teacher while he was teaching a class on the Zoom platform, one of the most used to make video calls and virtual meetings.
The situation
The event occurred ending last April, in a class at the Pascual Bravo University Institution, in the Antioquia capital.
The teacher was speaking and suddenly one of his students interrupted him. “Professor, I don’t hear you well,” he said. “Give alt + f4 to activate the microphone, please,” he added.
In a naive way and believing in the “good intentions” of his interlocutor, the teacher activated the command they had given him and left his own class, since that shortcut is used for such a function.
The laughter of the joker and his other companions were immediate. Even a “you, is very wicked, to the good” (SIC), was heard.

Repercussions
The mockery was shared by one of the teacher’s children on social networks, visibly outraged by the situation that his father, an older man who had to adapt to new technologies, lived through.
“It has not been easy for my dad to adapt to this extraordinary situation, he never attends a class without rigorously preparing it and in this health contingency much more has been demanded in its preparation” the message started.
“He has worked with dedication and discipline to better understand digital tools. He is very proactive and takes careful note of the recommendations and observations that my sister and I made to him, as to do something like this to him, “he added.

Finally, he said that, once they explained what had happened, the man only managed to say: “Education is the strangest service, people pay for it and do not want to receive it.”
The educational institution, for its part, confirmed to EL TIEMPO that, after the joke, the class continued, with the teacher’s return to it, and that, days after what happened, a meeting was held between those involved, in which they apologized.

“The teacher accepted the apology and even commented that it was all a joke and nothing more. He and his family made the decision not to talk about it anymore, “said a university spokesman.
Likewise, Juan Pablo Arboleda Gaviria, rector of Pascual Bravo, referred to what happened and called for respect and solidarity, and also commented that “The competent academic classes will analyze the facts in light of the student regulations and the measures that the internal regulations establish for this type of situation will be adopted.”
