These figures are known the same day that the entire city enters a general quarantine that will go until next January 18, which was ordered precisely due to the increase in infections in what the authorities have warned is the second peak of this emergency.

In this regard, Mayor Claudia López published a video on her Twitter account this Friday night. “We are going through the second peak of the pandemic, which is hard, difficult. We have a growing and very high number of positive cases”said the president.

(Keep in mind: Until when is the quarantine in Suba, Usaquén and Teusaquillo?)

López explained that, although in this peak the city has fewer active cases – in the first one, he said, there were about 68 thousand, while in this one there are about 53 thousand -, the alarming thing is that this time “we have more people who are much more seriously ill “.

According to the mayor, while in the first peak of the pandemic Bogotá had 1,537 people in the ICU on the highest day, this Friday, in the middle of the second peak, there are 1,818 people in the ICU.

López also reported that this day closes with 93.8% occupancy at the ICU in Bogotá. “It is still very high, we are very congested (…) in the UCI we are almost at the top,” he acknowledged.

Given this scenario, the president insisted on the importance of addressing the measures that have been adopted to contain the speed of infection, as well as extreme care measures (constant hand washing, use of masks, etc.).

It is worth mentioning that Bogotá is in general quarantine from this Friday, January 15, at 8 at night, until next Monday, January 18, at 4 in the morning.

Once that measure is finished, A new group of seven towns will immediately enter into strict quarantine: Bosa, Ciudad Bolívar, San Cristóbal, Rafael Uribe Uribe, Puente Aranda, Usme and Tunjuelito.

As of January 5, Suba, Usaquén and Engativá were declared in quarantine, and on 12 Kennedy, Fontibón and Teusaquillo were added. The first group ends its 14 days of restriction at dawn on Monday the 18th. The second group, on Thursday the 21st, with the exception of Teusaquillo, which also ends on Monday the 18th.

However, the night curfew is suspended from Tuesday. And the peak and plate, the peak and card and the dry law will continue to govern.

(In addition: clandestine parties, the mole of the quarantine by localities)

As the mole in the middle of the pandemic in the city have been the illegal parties. The Secretary of Government invited Bogota citizens to denounce these activities in the urgencies and emergencies line 123. It should be remembered that in the first 12 days of January, the authorities had to intervene 55 illegal routes and during December, 468, according to the Secretariat of security.
