Qatar 2022 Qualifiers: Iván Mejía’s criticism, after knowing the start dates | Soccer curiosities

This Tuesday, after a meeting with the president of Fifa, Gianni Infantino, Conmebol confirmed the start of the South American Qualifiers for the month of October, ratifying the first two dates of the competition (October 8 and 13), which gives the tickets for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

After knowing the news, the renowned Colombian journalist, Iván Mejía, spoke about it, and in his Twitter account he expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision, stating that the ratification of the start of the Qualifiers in October, passes through the ‘commercial spirit’ leaders, and the health of the protagonists is not being prioritized.

“Qualifiers in twenty days? What an absurd thing, what a mercantile spirit the leaders have. Fifa guarantees that the European teams will lend their players. It remains to be seen. First the business and then the health,” Mejía wrote.

It should be remembered that the president of Fifa assured that European clubs are obliged to lend to players for qualifying matches, being a controversial measure, due to the tight schedules in the old continent, and to contagion risks involved in these trips.
