Sixteen days after the crime of a retired Army major, during a charter case in northwestern Bogotá, the Prosecutor’s Office managed to establish the identity of the alleged perpetrator, which to the surprise of the authorities turned out to be a patrolman of the National Police.

The investigating body established that the victim withdrew more than 10 million pesos in a bank on December 10. In that entity, she would have been ‘marked’ (identified) by the indicated members of a criminal network known as ‘Harry’s’.

On his way home, the ex-officer stopped in the Minuto de Dios neighborhood, in the town of Engativá, while his wife was buying some fruits. At that moment, a man approached the vehicle, He intimidated him with a firearm, took his money and shot him twice. Wounded, he was transferred to a health center, where he died.

The alleged attacker and his accomplices escaped on a motorcycle and a vehicle. “The abundant technical evidence and other elements in the possession of the Prosecutor’s Office show that the patrolman González Rincón would be the material author of the facts,” explained the prosecutor.

This conclusion was reached after collecting testimonies and analyzing security camera videos and other evidence obtained in two weeks of investigative work.

The alleged perpetrator of the crime, patrolman Harrison Aurelio González Rincón, was captured by CTI officials. A prosecutor from the Bogotá Sectional Life Unit presented him before a guarantee control judge and charged him with the crimes of aggravated homicide; aggravated and qualified theft; and manufacture, trafficking, bearing or possession of firearms.

The defendant did not accept the charges and must comply with an intramural security measure.
