A new act of violence against members of the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá was registered on Tuesday night in the town of Kennedy, and it is disturbing considering that there are already several that have appeared this year. Yesterday was on the residential streets of the Bella Vista neighborhood, against a uniformed man who was mobilizing with a colleague in the middle of routine surveillance work.
The agents saw two subjects who were riding a motorcycle with a suspicious attitude, so they decided to ask them to stop. However, citizens not only refused to stop, they reacted violently.

“At the moment of signaling them to stop, the suspects fled, shooting at the uniformed men and causing a chest wound to one of our policemen, who was immediately taken to a health center“, the Metropolitan Police said in a press release.
The wounded officer is called Jácome Barrero, attached to the Kennedy local police station, and with more than four years in the institution. Security cameras in the area captured the moment of the attack, in which it is seen how the criminals, after attacking the patrol, accelerate the motorcycle and disappear.
Quickly, uniformed men from a nearby CAI arrived at the scene to transfer the injured comrade to a medical center, and to begin the first tasks that would allow finding the whereabouts of these people. After a padlock plan with which they closed the possible escape routes, the police managed to approach the criminals, who abandoned the vehicle and began to flee on foot.

In the pursuit, one of them, who would have used his weapon against Barrero, was captured. “In the reaction, the motorcycle was immobilized and the 38 caliber revolver with cartridges was seized.”, They explained in the Mebog, where they clarified that the same night of the events, the wounded uniformed man was operated successfully, and today he is out of danger.
This case is added to a very similar one that occurred on the morning of November 11, at 133rd Street with Villas Avenue, in Suba, when two men on a motorcycle who were required by two patrol cars did not stop and shot one of them in the face. The policeman underwent surgery, and fortunately he recovers.
Finally, the Secretary of Security of Bogotá, Hugo Acero, regretted what happened.
“All my solidarity with the patrolman who is recovering, with his family and of course also ask all the citizens of Bogotá not only to denounce, but also with our work and attitude to protect our police officers who are on duty every day of our security, ”he said.
