Since this week, Bogotá resumed the peak and ID as a preventive measure to reduce the spread of coronavirus in the city. Positive cases are increasing exponentially since the last weeks and the authorities they want to avoid at all costs that the second peak of the pandemic is worse than the first, which was experienced between July and August.
For this restriction it is taken into account the last number of the citizens’ identity card. Those who have an identity document ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6 and 8) will not be able to enter certain places on even days of the calendar, while the same will happen on odd days to those who have an ID ending with odd digit (1, 3, 5, 7 and 9).
It is necessary to remember that the peak and certificate will not only govern during the end of the year parties, but it will run until January 15. The measure that was only designed for Christmas and New Years was the dry law that prohibits the consumption and sale of liquor in public places.
In recent days, Mayor Claudia López confirmed that in all public and private establishments in Bogotá the bill and card applies, except for a few. The measure is in effect for establishments for the sale and payment of goods and services; purchase of any product at retail and wholesale; of banking, financial, notarial and citizen service services in public entities.
Places where the peak and ID does not apply in Bogotá
There are five types of establishments in which the identity card will not be required at the entrance to define whether someone can enter them or not:
- Restaurants.
- Hotels.
- Pharmacy.
- Health system establishments.
- Funeral homes.
The city police are fully authorized to punish citizens or owners of establishments who do not respect the measures, and therefore impose fines that can go up to 936,000 pesos.
This weekend it will be known whether or not the peak and plate in the city will be lifted, something that will depend largely on how many people leave the capital in the next few hours.
