Featured news from Bogota

For this Wednesday, private vehicles with an odd plate (1,3,5,7,9) will be restricted to circulate in the city.

In previous years, this would have been the last peak and plaque week of the year in Bogotá. However, in the midst of the pandemic, the District decided to leave the restriction for the Christmas season and will continue to govern normally until 2021.

Keep in mind that this Wednesday, December 23, if you have an odd-license plate (1,3,5,7,9), you will only be able to transit between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm, otherwise may be sanctioned with a subpoena.

The restriction starts from 6:00 in the morning to 8:30 in the morning and resumes from 3:00 in the afternoon to 7:30 at night.

The District recommends that, considering that Christmas Eve is only two days away and people are scheduled to finish their Christmas shopping, departures be prepared in advance to avoid getting caught in a traffic jam during peak and plate times.

Similarly, remember that there are exceptions for private vehicles shared with three or more passengers (including the driver). Also for electric and hybrid cars, for health personnel, and for those who have accessed the “solidarity peak and plate” measure, an initiative that seeks to generate additional resources for the city’s Public Transport System.

Do not forget to drive carefully and respect the traffic rules. The weekend before Christmas is approaching and, surely, many Bogota citizens will go out to make their last purchases of this 2020.
