Due to the increase in cases and deaths in recent days from COVID-19, the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, announced the return of the measure that will continue until January 15.

The pressure that the Christmas season has generated in the number of infections by COVID-19 is passing the bill, so Mayor Claudia announced the return of the peak and ID to the city from December 21 to January 15, as well as now only one member per household can go shopping

“We have been considerate of families and businesses this Christmas season, understanding the difficult year. But there does not seem to be a conscious and co-responsible response and the contagion grows again in a worrying way. We will have to take more careful measures, “said the president through social networks.

The peak and ID will apply as of this Monday, December 21, as follows:

* Even days: people whose ID is odd may leave

This measure is applied to all types of commercial establishments where activities such as the acquisition and payment of goods and services are carried out; purchase of any product at retail and wholesale. These include banking, financial, notarial and citizen service entities in public entities.

This measure will only have exceptions to access health centers, pharmacies and funeral services, or in the case of notarial, banking, financial and administrative procedures where the simultaneous presence of two or more people is required.

“This is the time to stay in self-care, please everyone who wants to have a meeting with their parents on December 24 and 31, should be isolated; those who are most contagious are the elderly: mothers, fathers, uncles and grandparents. That is why we always remind them of the permanent use of a mask, distancing, hand washing and voluntary isolation. So we can all spend a merry Christmas and a happy New Year without having anything to regret, ”said López.

In recent days, the National Institute of Health has reported up to 4,000 new daily cases of contagion in the capital, to which is added the death of 56 people last Friday, a figure that had not been recorded since August 10. Given this, a series of recommendations were made to the city as well as non-urgent surgeries were suspended.

Among the measures, the president asked citizens to isolate themselves a week before if they are going to celebrate the end of the year holidays with the extended family, in addition, they asked to hold meetings in which no more than 10 people are found and although the occupation of Units Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is over 60%, it was asked to prioritize care for COVID-19 patients.
