Oxford coronavirus vaccine volunteer dies

Through a press release, the entity confirmed that the deceased participant was a 28-year-old health professional currently living in the state of Rio de Janeiro, said O Globo.

“In relation to the death of the volunteer for the Oxford antidote test, Anvisa was formally informed of this fact on October 19, 2020,” the agency said in statements collected by this same medium.

Although he did not provide further details about the case, Anvisa pointed out that it has not yet been specified whether the man received the vaccine (developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca) or took the placebo against the coronavirusadded the form.

“The regulatory agencies involved received the partial data regarding the investigation. The committee suggested continuing with the study, while the process remains under evaluation ”, the entity specified in the document.

Finally, the Brazilian newspaper pointed out that the true causes that led to the death of the volunteer are not yet known. “The pharmaceutical company still does not have a position on the case”, he concluded.

The Oxford University vaccine, which would be available later this year, currently that is in the last phase of clinical trials. In addition, it is being tested in the UK, Brazil, India and South Africa.
