The District Mayor’s Office issued Decree No. 0800 of 2020, through which provisions are established for the end of the year season.
“As we said this week, we have evaluated both the epidemiological moment the city is in and the possible scenarios that can generate sources of contagion. Our priority will always be to protect the life, health and employment of Barranquilleros, so We will apply the necessary controls to ensure strict compliance with the measures”Said Mayor Jaime Pumarejo Heins.
The District reiterated that social gatherings of more than ten (10) people are prohibited. The recommendation is that they be from the same family group.
The president insisted that it is a time to be with the family: “I want to ask you to hopefully be able to spend at home, with your close family nucleus. We’ve been doing things right for many months, making sure that enemy is kept at bay. Let’s remember that this is not over, it is still here and it is still lethal, and that carelessness can end the life of a family member. These recommendations are to save people’s lives ”.
Day of the Candles
In reference to the celebration of Day of the Candles, the Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla announced that this December 7, a curfew will apply throughout the District.
The measure, which will run from 11:00 p.m. on December 7 to 6:00 a.m. on December 8, prohibits the movement of people and vehicles in Barranquilla.
Regarding the measure, the mayor Pumarejo explained that “traditionally, December 7 is a date when friends and acquaintances meet, and it is precisely those meetings that are causing the infections. Our recommendation continues to be to hold small family reunions ”.

Other measures
Through the Decree 0800 of 2020 The following measures are also established, among others:
Phase of Selective Isolation and Responsible Individual Distancing It will run until January 16, 2021 in Barranquilla.
Special provision for social gatherings. Social gatherings are limited to a maximum number of ten (10) people.
Prohibition of alcohol consumption in public spaces and unauthorized commercial establishments.
Circulation on the Great Malecón. The circulation of people and vehicles in the sector of the Gran Malecón de Río is prohibited from Monday to Thursday from 10:00 at night until 05:00 in the morning the next day and on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 at night until 05:00 in the morning of the next day.
Operations and complaints
Taking into account the provisions of the decreed curfew, the District Government Secretariat and the Office for Citizen Security and Coexistence have articulated their operation, together with the Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla, in order to carry out regulation and control operations in the five locations in the city during special dates.
The District Mayor’s Office reiterates that the COVID Patrol will maintain its surveillance tours in different sectors and that citizens may contact 3851 246 to report parties, crowds or any other behavior that affects public order.
