The taxi drivers’ unions confirm the national mobilization that they will carry out this Wednesday, November 25, in protest against transport platforms.
Hugo Ospina, leader of the union in Bogotá, assured that delegations from different cities will arrive this Tuesday in the capital of the country that will join the march.

However, he clarified, in the main cities, such as Medellín, Cali, Manizales, Pereira, Bucaramanga, Cartagena and Valledupar, among others, there will also be mobilizations.
In the capital of the country, the mobilizations start at Engativá Pueblo, Zona Franca (calle. 106 with carrera. 15), the Children’s Museum, Techo, calle 170 with highway Norte and calle 63 with carrera 60. And from These points will be mobilized on foot, accompanied by caravans of vehicles.
The protest of the yellow wave, which will be called the Second National Crusade of the taxi drivers’ union, has several reasons, but perhaps the most important for them are the bills that are being processed in Congress and that seek to authorize the public transport service across platforms.

Thus, according to Ospina, any vehicle, be it bus, bus, group, car or truck, will be allowing the service of public passenger transport. This, in his opinion, was what led to the bankruptcy of taxi drivers in San Francisco, in the United States, and ended up affecting the subway and mobility, the environment and public health.
The union also points out that the mobilization, which in Bogotá will have several starting points and routes, intends for the Superintendency of Transportation to apply the laws to the vehicle that provides the illegal public transport service and establish rates, and that the Attorney General’s Office sanction the public servants who do not enforce them.
In fact, according to the leader of the taxi drivers in the city, there is a recent circular that establishes the cancellation of the registration and a fine of 700 minimum monthly wages for those who do so.
EL TIEMPO confirmed with an official source that there is indeed a circular dated November 20, in which the Superintendency of Transportation calls on the country’s transit authorities to reinforce controls against piracy and illegality.
In fact, it reminds them of the tools established by law, 336 and 769 or the National Traffic Code, against vehicles and drivers who provide this service illegally.
According to the source, circular 015 of November 20, 2020 establishes the Strategic Plan for the surveillance and control of compliance with transport and traffic regulations, which, in other words, orders the transit authorities to update the plan to in 2021, in order to maintain the fight against piracy and illegality.
Finally, they indicate that they need President Iván Duque to reiterate the campaign promise to give them equal treatment.
