Natalia Paris was widely criticized last Tuesday for a couple of irresponsible comments she made on her Instagram account, after some followers asked her why she was at a private party in Cartagena and disrespecting preventive measures typical of the pandemic the country is experiencing.

“We all take chlorine dioxide. It is the remedy that saves you from getting vaccinated “, “We all take chlorine dioxide. Nobody gets sick ”, the now DJ replied on Instagram. His comments caused outrage in the country as users of social networks and doctors could not understand how Paris was able to suggest that a product that could be deadly served to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Invima alerted Colombians that what the model was saying was totally false and the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce asked her to eliminate those irresponsible comments, or else it would fine her.

La paisa paid attention and this Thursday issued a statement to refer to the controversy it sparked. Paris began by clarifying that at no time has chlorine dioxide been promoted or commercialized. Later, the model made reference to how important it is to follow the recommendations of the health authorities.

“We must consume products with sanitary registration and Invima registration, follow their recommendations and abide by the measures,” said the DJ. “It is important to refrain from consuming products that are not guaranteed and without legal records as such”, he concluded.

Chlorine dioxide does not prevent the spread of COVID-19 nor is it endorsed as a treatment for the disease. The use of this substance is allowed as a surface disinfectant and its consumption can produce respiratory, heart, circulatory, liver problems, dehydrates the body, and it could even cause death.
