The authorities of that country searched the room of Colombian Nairo Quintana and those of other colleagues last week during the Tour de France, within an open investigation with no link to the country’s anti-doping authorities.

According to the French press, the visit took place last Wednesday at the hotel in Megeve, in the Alps, early in the morning. This means that the procedure took place before stage 17 of the race.

Agents the brigade for the fight against environmental crimes and public health arrived with a court order and they searched Quintana’s room, that of his brother Dayer and that of Winner Anacona, as well as those of the masseurs and some vehicles, according to the weekly Le Journal du Dimanche.

The investigation has no connection with the French Agency for the Fight Against Doping (AFLD), responsible for the controls during the Tour, he adds.

It is not the first time that the environmental brigade of the gendarmerie investigates participants in the Tour de France, although his investigations have never determined the commission of crimes.

In 2017 they opened an investigation to determine if there were motors in the bikes of some cyclists, but they closed it earlier this year due to lack of evidence. Last year they also turned their attention to the Deceuninck team, but the investigation was also shelved.

Quintana, who came to the Tour with options to get on the podium for the fourth time in his career, was dismounted from that fight after suffering three falls. The Boyaca cyclist finished in 17th place more than an hour behind the winner, the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.
